Fultondale
Council awards bid for new fire truck
The Fultondale City Council opened and awarded a bid for a new fire engine to be received next October. The winning bid was Southeastern Apparatus Sales, LLC, which provided a low bid of $339,782.
In other business, the council:
• authorized the mayor to take and award bids on a new for a new telephone system for city hall
• authorized the mayor to enter into a contract with GovDeals for online auction of surplus equipment. The GovDeals Web site, which is set up similarly to eBay, will allow the city to auction off surplus equipment in a more timely manner.
• approved a business license and retail liquor license for The Drop Zone, a new sports bar to be located at 2403 B Decatur Highway.
The council will meet again on Dec. 22 at 11:30 a.m.
Morris
Santa to appear at store
Santa Claus and his elf will be at the Dollar General store in Morris Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Parents may bring their cameras and take pictures. The visit with Santa is free, but the store requests the donation of a toy or other item for the Morris Police Department’s Christmas toy drive.
