The North Jefferson News

I’ll be brief this week because of space constraints and the fact that I don’t have much to say.

I, and everyone else at The North Jefferson News, would like to send a heartfelt congratulations to Danielle and Todd Pelkey on the birth of their second daughter, Anna Cadence, on Nov. 25.

The slightly cone-headed (sorry, Danielle) bundle of joy weighed about seven and a half pounds and was 20 inches long.

As of this writing, mother and baby are at home resting comfortably.

Letters to Santa

As most of our readers are aware, we publish an annual “Letters to Santa” section each December in our newspaper and we plan on doing the same again this month.

That being said, the only thing we need from our readers is letters.

Whether you’re a teacher, parent, grandparent, guardian or family friend, we need to know what little Johnny or Susie may want for Christmas this year. If we don’t publish the letters, Santa will not know what children in north Jefferson County want for Christmas, because he’ll have no clue.

Santa Claus, of course, has a subscription to The North Jefferson News. He gets the senior discount and he’s been a faithful reader for years.

He’s also one of our most vocal critics. He can be really mean. Last year, he left a copy of our newspaper in my stocking with red marks throughout. Very harsh.

So, get those letters to us so Santa will know what you want. You can drop those by our offices at 1110 Main Street or e-mail them to us at newsroom@njeffersonnews.com. If the recession hasn’t left you strapped for 42 cents, you can mail them to P.O. Box 849, Gardendale, AL 35071.

All we ask is that you send them to us by Dec. 15.

Thank you in advance.
