Jackets hold Bulldogs to 5 points in first half

HANCEVILLE — Jake Eiland scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, as Corner opened its season with a 60-25 rout at Hanceville.
The Yellow Jackets allowed only five points from the Bulldogs in the first half, and no field goals — only seven free throws — in the fourth period.
Corner’s defense gave the host team fits, as they racked up 22 steals and 15 offensive rebounds for the game.
Damon Knox scored 11 points, and Kyle Belcher added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Jackets.
Geoffrey Hall was the only Hanceville player to reach double figures, scoring 11 points. No other Bulldog tallied more than four points.
The game was the first of four in an nine-day span for Corner. The Jackets have their home opener Tuesday night, hosting Cleveland. Action begins with the girls varisty game tipping off at 6 p.m..
