Larry Hugh Hazel of Somerville, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at the age of 65. Mr. Hazel was born Jan. 5, 1943, in Gardendale, he was the only child of the late William Hugh Hazel and the late Minnie Johnson. He was a 1961 graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School. Larry was an engineer through and through and from the time of his graduation with a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama in 1965, he worked for The Boeing Company, Martin Marietta Corporation, Sperry Rand and Code Research Corp, before joining Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in October 1975. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlotte Sue Hazel, sons, James Eric Hazel and wife Joan, and David Wesley Hazel and wife Christy; daughters, Pamela Lynn Farr and Valerie Jean Hazel; grandsons David Ryan Hazel, Joshua Lynn Stinson, Christopher Nathan Thompson and Nathan Alexander Lartigue. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 4, at the Gardendale Funeral Home Chapel with burial at the Moncrief Cemetery. Rev. Doug McCollough officiated.
