I don’t know who won, but here’s other things to read

The North Jefferson News
Like Steve Flowers over on the left side of the page, I have no idea who won last night. As you’re reading this column, the election may still be undecided, God forbid, just like in 2000.
That being said, that’s all I’m going to say about the 2008 presidential election, this week anyway.
I’ve got bigger and better things to discuss, so on with the show.
Robert Carter
The North Jefferson News is pleased to have a new sports editor. His name is Robert Carter and I’m already a big fan.
Robert hails from Kentucky, though I won’t hold that against him. Just kidding.
Robert has plenty of newspaper experience, having spent the last several months helping the Birmingham News with their prep sports coverage. Before that, he worked at the short-lived Hoover Gazette, the paper which broke the story about Rush Probst’s improprieties.
I feel confident that he’ll do a great job for us here, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t feel confident about his abilities to give you the best bi-weekly sports coverage that money can by for 75 cents an issue, $35 annually or $31.50 for senior citizens.
Caught in the Web
Hey, in case you didn’t know, The North Jefferson News has a Web site where you can find the best community news around. Trust me, it’s true.
More exciting than that, we’ve started updating our Web site daily. That’s right, daily. No more of that waiting around until Monday or Wednesday to read fresh news on our site.
We’re going to update our site daily if it kills us. It may not always be the most exciting updates ever, but if we do have breaking news, we will post it as soon as possible.
Gobble, gobble
Each year, The North Jefferson News publishes a holiday and recipe guide which features recipes from our readers, or anyone else that wants to have a recipe published in our paper.
This year’s Thanksgiving-themed recipe book will go out on Nov. 19, which gives you plenty of time to thumb through it and make something that someone else perfected a long time ago.
However, we still need recipes and we need them by Nov. 14. Don’t get me wrong, we have access to all kinds of yankee-fied recipes through various feature services that we occasionally borrow from, but we’d prefer to have down-home, southern-fried, delicious southern recipes from fellow southerners who know their way around a kitchen.
After all, southerners are the best cooks.
There are many ways you can submit your recipes to us: e-mail them to us at newsroom@njeffersonnews.com; send them through the mail to P.O. Box 849, Gardendale, AL, 35071; or just bring them by our offices at 1110 Main Street.
We thank you in advance.
