Arlen Ray Mayfield, age 84 of Hanceville, passed away on Oct. 25, 2008 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman county on May 28, 1924 to Travis and Mendie Elizabeth Bright Mayfield. He is survived by his wife, Lois Mayfield; son, Ray (Diane) Mayfield Jr. of Lewisville, Tex., three daughters, Cheryl (Tommy) Grissom of Lewisville, Tex., Terri Smith of Fla. and Elizabeth (Mike) Morgan of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Clyde (Evelyn) Mayfield of Mt. Olive and a sister, Marie Smith of Mt. Olive and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Services were held at Hanceville Funeral Home with Dennis Lott officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
