Torches shut down Victory

The Tabernacle Torches dealt their third shut-out of the season Friday night, devastating Victory (Millbrook) 46-0.
The win upped Tabernacle’s record to 8-1 and evened out Victory’s to 4-4.
All of the points of the game were scored in the first half of the game, with everyone snoozing during the scoreless second half.
The action started when Bradley White returned a punt 32 yards. The 2-point conversion failed, putting the score at 6-0.
Later in the first, White scored again on a 16-yard run.
Matt Wade ran in the 2-point conversion on a pass from Landon Ingle, making the score 14-0.
Still in the first quarter, White ran 70 yards for another touchdown. Wade ran in the 2, upping the score to 22-0.
Rounding out the first quarter was another Wade touchdown, this time for 7 yards. He then ran in the 2-point conversion, making the score 30-0.
The second quarter saw a 30-yard touchdown by Wade, ending with a successful 2-point conversion by Frank Doganiero on a pass from White. That upped the score to 38-0.
In the final scoring play, Trevor Bagby scored on a 54-yard pass from White. Justin Devasure ran in the extra points on a pass from White, putting the final score at 46-0.
For the night, Tabernacle had 13 first downs, with 28 rushing attempts gaining 271 yards.
With 68 passing yards, the Torches totaled 339 yards during the game.
White was the rushing leader, with 93 yards gained on four carries. He made three touchdowns.
Wade had 63 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns.
White was also the passing leader, having 1-for-1 for a 54-yard touchdown pass.
On defense, Jared Higginbotham had seven tackles, an assist and a pass broken up.
Ingle had six tackles and a pass broken up, while Doganiero made four tackles, an assist and two touchdowns for a loss.
The Torches will be in playoff action next week, playing the winner of Friday’s Tuscaloosa vs. Victory Columbus game.
