The Tabernacle Torches headed south to the beaches of Panama City Friday night for a win over the newest team in the Christian Football Association, 60-18.
The Torches got on the board in the first quarter in a big way after a 60-yard punt return touchdown from Fred Goodgame.
They would score twice more in the quarter from a touchdown pass from Jonathan White to Jared Higginbotham and a touchdown run from Bradley White.
Panama City would put points on the board in the second quarter after a 70-yard return, but the Torches would score three times in the quarter with touchdown runs from
Frank Doganiero and again from Bradley White.
Panama City would answer back in the third quarter, but the Torches put an additional 20 points on the board in the third and fourth quarters.
Bradley White would finish the night with 162 yards rushing on eight carries and had two touchdowns. White also threw two touchdowns and had 34 total yards passing on the night.
Higginbotham and Doganiero combined for 20 receiving yards and had a touchdown each on the night.
Higgenbotham and Trevor Bagby also combined for 14 tackles on the evening.
The Torches will play New Life at home next Friday night.
The win over Panama City all but clinches a home game in the first round of the CFA playoffs later this year.
