Happy birthday to Jeremy Wolford on Oct. 15. Hope you have a great year.
• Con-gratulations are in order for our new mayor, Othell Phillips and for our newest council members, Alvin Currington and Faith Harper and to Wendell Phillips and Gary Morris who won re-election. Thank you for going out and voting. We look forward to the next four years.
• There will be an open prayer night on Nov. 2 at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church for the elections at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
• Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its annual Oktoberfest celebration today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets for meals are $6 and can be purchased today. All proceeds go to sponsor their mission team that is traveling to the Phillipines in November.
• Are you a quilter who is looking for a way to help in the community? If so, the Birmingham Zoo needs your help in finishing a quilt that will be used as a prize. The top of the quilt is done, it just needs to be completed. If you or someone you know would be interested, please call Ginger at 612-8293.
