Mt. Olive festival set for Thursday

Mount Olive Elementary will hold its fall festival on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information, call the school at 379-4900.

• Bryan Elementary will hold its fall festival today from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be carnival games, door prizes, silent auctions and food. For questions please call Carla Bennett at 647-0757 or

• The Jersey Tide, a new 16-under travel softball team in Gardendale, is having a yard sale and car wash today in the Shoney’s parking lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are seven girls from north Jefferson County on the team. The coaches are Angie Kitchens and Erin Wright.

• The 2008-2009 GHS Rendezvous Yearbook Staff are putting together a school cookbook, “Gardendale Rocket Recipes.” This cookbook will feature recipes from faculty, staff, students, GHS alumni, and the Gardendale community. Proceeds will help to add color to the yearbook and buy new equipment for the yearbook staff. The staff would like for everyone to submit recipes for the cookbook (four max). Anyone may also pre-buy a cookbook for $15. Please mail recipes and cookbook orders to: GHS Rendezvous Yearbook Staff, 800 Main Street, Gardendale, AL 35071. • Gardendale Arts Council presents “Radio Razzle Dazzle” Oct. 16 and Oct. 17 at the Gardendale Civic Center Exhibition Hall. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and is catered by The Fish Market. Show begins at 7 p.m. Advance tickets only, on sale now at the Gardendale Civic Center (631-5679) for $20.
