Billy Ray Culwell, Sr., age 81 of Hayden, passed away on Sept. 22, 2008. He was retired from Ryder Truck Lines where he worked for 35 years. Member Hayden United Methodist Church. Active in the men’s bible Sunday school class and a veteran of U.S. Navy, serving in WWII. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Berry Culwell; sons, Billy Ray (Kathy Jo) Culwell, Jr. and James Edward (Jennifer) Culwell; daughter, Janet (Wayne) Myers and Vicki Culwell Trammell; grandchildren, Kimberley Myers, Chip Myers (Amanda), Jeremiah Culwell, Jonathan Culwell, Benjamin Culwell, Hannah Trammell and Shannon Trammell; great-grandchild, Kendall Myers. Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with burial in High Rock Community Cemetery in Hayden. Rev. Ron Howard officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to Hayden United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
