Dora rolled up 430 rushing yards led by Ja’Michael Swain’s 180 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries and the Bulldogs capped off a 41-28 victory over Corner Friday night in their Class 4A, Region 5 affair at Horace-Roberts Field.

Corner (1-3, 0-3 Region 5) cracked the scoreboard first when quarterback Zack Price connected with Jared Humphries for a 35-yard strike and a 6-0 lead.

Dora answered with its first score midway through the second when Kyle Hogg, who finished the night with 94 yards and two touchdowns, capped a 9-play, 83-yard drive with a 23-yard run.

After a Dora punt, Corner on a fourth-and-goal at the Dora 3-yard line, scored a touchdown when Price hit Aaron Cummings for a 3-yard score.

Price finished the night 20-of-36 for 290 yards.

Dora answered Corner’s score again as JaMichael Swain, following great blocking, rumbled in from 25 to make the halftime score 13-13.

Corner received the ball to begin the second half and after a quick three and out, it took Dora all of one play for JaMichael Swain to run through the Jacket defense for 60 yards and the Bulldogs first lead of the season.

Following a Corner punt on it’s next possession, Kyle Hogg again found pay dirt from 21 yards out for his second score of the night to give Dora a 26-13 edge.

On the very next play from scrimmage, Dora’s defense got in on the act as Kel Smith intercepted a Zack Price pass and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown, and a 34-13 lead.

Corner struck again late in the third when Price found Andrew Huffman from 15 yards out to draw the Jackets closer. Gedding’s point-after made it 34-20.

The Jacket’s added a late score when Price ran in from 5 yards out. A two point conversion made the final core 41-28 for a very happy home crowd.

Next week, Corner will host Locust Fork in a non-region game.
