• The 2008-2009 GHS Rendezvous Yearbook Staff are doing a school cookbook, “Gardendale Rocket Recipes.” This cookbook will feature recipes from faculty, staff, students, GHS alumni and the Gardendale community. Each cookbook will also contain helpful cooking hints, recipe category dividers, a table of contents, an index and special pages of interest (including pictures of current school construction and a rendering of the new school). Proceeds from our cookbook sales will help to add color to our yearbook and buy new equipment for the yearbook staff. Anyone can pre-buy a cookbook for $15. • The Bragg Middle School PTA is currently taking pre-orders for their barbecue sale. Boston butts are $25 and ribs are $20. Pick up will be on Sept. 26 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Gardendale Elementary Carnival. Call 706-6964 to pre-order or see Jill Montgomery or Laura Miller for more information.

• The Moncrief Cemetery Burial Society will hold its annual meeting at the Gardendale Civic Center on Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m. For more information, call 631-3748.

• Life and Praise Assembly of God will hold a building fund benefit singing tonight at 6 p.m. and on Sept. 26-28 they will have a revival with Evangelist Lavernon Davis. For more information call 647-4921 or 213-3986.
