Firefighters raising money for Muscular Dystrophy

The Gardendale Professional Firefighters Association is continuing its efforts to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A car wash on Aug. 16 generated at least $1,600. Lt. Alan Durham said his firefighting shift had also raised about $300, in addition to fund-raising efforts from other shifts. The firefighters will continue to raise money this week in front of Wal-Mart and other local businesses ahead of the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, which begins this weekend.
