Percy Alman Hughes

Percy Alman Hughes, age 80, of Morris, went to be with the Lord and his loving wife Jewel on June 30, 2008. He was a lifetime member and deacon at Enon Baptist Church, where he and Jewel were custodians for 45 years. He was also retired from J.C. Penny. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, pawpa, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Oscar Hughes, his loving wife of 56 years, Jewel, in-laws, Fred and Lula Lucas, sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Gilbert Posey and granddaughter, Kristine Hughes. Survived by his sons, Freddie (Becky) Hughes of Hueytown, Teddy (Nancy) Hughes of Gardendale, Randy (Nirann) Hughes of Morris, brothers, Howard (Addie) Hughes of Mt. Olive, his twin, Versa Aulton (Eveyln) Hughes of Morris, brother-in-laws, Carl (Jane) Lucas of Morris, Ronald (Barbara) Lucas of Morris, Richard Lucas of Hayden, 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on July 3 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Gardendale Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Morris Cemetery. Dr. John Hambright officiated. Gardendale Funeral Home directing.
