Vets to fly to memorial
At least two north Jefferson County men will take part in Honor Flight Birmingham, according to a press release.
The two men, Dennis Smith of Warrior and James Kendrick of Gardendale, will join other Birmingham-area veterans on a July 9 flight to Washington, D.C., to visit the World War II memorial. The release said veterans are selected for flights on a first-come, first-served basis, except that terminally ill veterans may be moved up in priority. Participating veterans pay nothing as they have already given enough to the service of their country.
