Fultondale comes to aid of stranded travelers

On May 1, 2008, the kindergarten class of Priceville Elementary School in Morgan County was returning from a field trip to the Birmingham Zoo when the buses experienced engine problems.

The Fultondale Police came to the rescue and escorted the buses to the Fultondale Public Library.

Mrs. Christi Campbell, director of the library, welcomed our children with open arms. The children received a guided tour of the Fultondale Fire Department and were treated to pizza and drinks while they waited for other buses to come down Interstate 65 to pick up the weary travelers.

In this day and time, it is not often that people go out of their way to help their fellow man. I would like to commend the city of Fultondale for the kind and compassionate manner in which they treated our students.

Fultondale is obviously a city that believes in and lives out the concept of “southern hospitality.”

If Priceville can ever return the favor, please let us know. Your thoughtfulness and sensitive treatment of our students was a great lesson for all of us.

Sincerely,

Dr. Anne S. Knowlton, Ph.D.

Principal Priceville Elementary School
