Robert Benjamin “Ben” Saxon, Jr.

Robert Benjamin Saxon, Jr. “Ben”, age 63, went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2008. He was a member of Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Mr. Saxon graduated from Bessemer High School class of 1963, he then graduated from Snead Junior College, the University of Alabama and was working toward his master’s degree at UAB. He taught marketing at Gardendale High School’s Vocational School. He retired from Sales after a 30 year career. He was a founding member of Birmingham Record Collectors and owner of Reminiscing Records. He was a professional disc jockey for various organizations in and around the Birmingham area. He was an avid fan of all University of Alabama athletics. “Roll Tide” Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Sharon P. Saxon; children, Ashley Saxon (Chris) Von Lintel, Robert Benjamin (Jana) Saxon, III, Bryant Alan Saxon and Rebecca Ann Saxon; granddaughters, Shelby Saxon, Avery Saxon, Gabrielle Busby and Sarah Von Lintel; sisters, Rita (Bill) Brent and Mary Lynn (Ed) Tumlin; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Dr. Rudy Guess officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel directing.
