Kayla Cox signs with Gadsden State

On May 6, Mortimer Jordan center fielder Kayla Cox signed a softball scholarship with Gadsden State College.
Cox, who is currently hitting .288 with 35 runs scored and 24 RBIs this year, to go along with 12 doubles and four triples, was told my her travel-ball coach last fall, that Gadsden State was interested in her.
Soon, Cox went for a tryout at Gadsden, where she practiced with the team. One week later Gadsden head coach Jeanne Kerr called and offered Cox a scholarship.
Kerr told the Lady Devil’s senior that she was impressed with Cox’s hustle and speed.
Cox, who plans on studying physical therapy, would like to move on and play at a four-year school after finishing at Gadsden.
Cox said that without the support of her family and her boyfriend Cory Whittemore, she wouldn’t have been able to reach her goal of playing softball at the college level.
