The Fultondale Lady Wildcats season came to an end on Tuesday night as they fell to No. 6-ranked Ranburne in two games, despite allowing only three earned runs in the two contests.
Ranburne (30-5), eliminated the No. 10-ranked Lady Wildcats (21-13), 1-0 and 7-5.
“If someone had told me before the season that we could win 21 games,” Fultondale head coach David Reed said. “We are really young and we made some young mistakes and I think our future is really bright. One more hit here and there and we could have won tonight. To get this far with the tough schedule we played, it a big accomplishment for our girls.”
The Wildcats lose only one senior off this year’s club, and should be strong for the foreseeable future, as they have six freshman, two eighth graders, two sophomores and two juniors on their roster, in addition to the lone senior—first baseman Chelsey McCombs.
