Morris City Council members issued resolutions on April 22 honoring Bryan Elementary School students and teachers following the March 28 bus crash.

More than 100 students were on three charter buses headed to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. The first bus left the roadway and flipped over after the driver reportedly suffered a medical issue.

The three resolutions recognize fifth-grade teachers Sherry Ledlow and Amy King, and the entire fifth-grade class.

Ledlow and King were both honored for committing selfless acts and risking their lives “to save the lives of others,” the resolutions stated.

The resolution for the fifth-grade class stated that the students showed “bravery and dedication to their classmates” during the incident.

Councilman Ray Densmore, who had a child on one of the buses, said that Bryan Elementary principal Debra Campbell and other staff at the school helped write the resolutions.

Council members will present the resolutions to the teachers and students during a school assembly on May 2.
