Gardendale takes two-of-three at Pelham

The Gardendale Lady Rockets won two-of-three games at Pelham on Saturday during a round-robin tournament.

Gardendale whipped Hillcrest of Tuscaloosa and Moody High school, before falling to Pell City in their final tourney game.

The two wins upped the Lady Rockets record to 16-10-1.

Gardendale 7,

Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 5


Katie Argent (6-1) got the win, as she threw a seven-hitter and struck out four. She issued three walks and allowed four earned runs.

Gardendale scored six runs in the first inning and added one more in the fifth. Emily Dodson led the attack going 3-for-3 with a run scored. Kayla Estes went 2-for-3, scored one run and had two RBIs. Taylor Powell went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Kaitlyn Casaday had one hit and scored once.

Beth Erwin had a double and scored one run. Lindsay Blakey had a double.

Gardendale 4,

Moody 0


Erwin (6-2) threw eight innings, allowed two hits and struck out six.

She went 2-for-4 at the plate, with a three-run home run. Casaday had a solo homer. Kellie Johnson and Kendall Thomas had one hit each. Erica England had one hit and scored once.

Pell City 3,

Gardendale 1


Thomas (5-6) took the loss. She threw 4 1/3 innings of no-hit ball. She walked four, hit one batter and allowed two runs. Both of which were unearned.

At the plate, Casaday and Delena Kennedy got tow hits each.
