Lady Wildcats win sixth straight

Some words of warning to the rest of the teams on Fultondale’s softball schedule—look out! The Lady Wildcats are on a roll and you may get run over.

On Thursday night, the Lady Cats won for the sixth straight time, as they blanked Calera in five innings, 10-0, to improve to 11-4 this season.

Cadi “Boo” Oliver threw five innings of four-hit ball and struck out 10, as she recorded her second shutout of the season. She didn’t issue a walk.

Oliver helped herself at the plate, as she went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Riane Estes had a two-run double. Haley Hill went 2-for-3 with with two runs scored and an RBI.

Britani Howell had a hit and an RBI. Camden Marrs had a one hit and one RBI. Chelsey McCombs went 1-for-3.

Molly Brown went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.

Also on Thursday night, Senior Kendall Thomas (5-5), threw four-innings of one-hit ball and walked none as she picked up the win.

Katie Argent followed Thomas with one inning of work. Argent struck out the side for her only three outs.

Kaitlyn Casaday powered the offense with a 3-for-4 night with a double, a homer and four RBIs.

Casaday scored two runs.

Beth Erwin went 2-for-4 with two doubles and scored twice.

Thomas went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Delena Kennedy went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs. Kennedy scored twice.

Gardendale improved to 15-9-1 overall.

The Lady Wildcats fell to the Lady Redskins in the double-elimination Blount County softball tournament on Thursday.

Brittany Thomas took the loss, after allowing four runs on only two hits over two innings.She was followed in the pitching circle by Brittany Putnam, who threw 3 1/3 innings and gave up two runs, walked four and struck out three. Ashlan Dutton pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out two.

At the plate, Madison Durham went 2-for-3 and was robbed of a home run when the Oneonta center fielder reached over the fence for the catch. Dutton and Meagan Holt both had one hit. Thomas had a

RBI. Kris Quick and Mara Conner both went 1-for-3. Sam Niblett went 1-for-3 and scored the only Hayden run.
