Eckenrod Ford is hosting their All Ford Fun Day 11th Annual Car Show on Saturday. Registration is free, and begins at 7:30 a.m. Judging is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
“We are really excited about this year’s car show,” said Doug Drake, a sales manager at Eckenrod Ford.
According to Drake, they are expecting this year’s show to be quite a large event.
“Last year we had around 168 cars, I believe, and this year we are expecting and ready to accommodate up to 245 entrants,” Drake said. “We’ve sectioned off almost the entire lot for the car show this year, which is more space than we have ever used before.”
People come from miles around to take part in the Eckenrod Ford car show, according to Drake.
“A lot of folks come from Huntsville and Birmingham, but we’ve also had people bring cars from as far away as Mobile, and Chattanooga,” Drake said.
Eckenrod is anticipating a large part of the Cullman community to show up in support of the festivities.
“We’re expecting it to be well into the thousands, as far as attendance is concerned,” Drake said. “The reason for that is because this car show is such a great family event. You can bring your kids out, and show them the types of cars their parents and grandparents drove.”
“We are going to have anything from the new Mustangs, to the Jeeps that Ford made for the military back in World War II,” said Drake.
“We always have a ton of different categories, and give out a lot of plaques and trophies,” Drake said. “Plus we have drawings for the public to win T-shirts, hats and a lot of fun stuff like that.”
According to Drake, in addition to the chance to see some nice Ford vehicles, the All Ford Fun Day will also be doing its part to help a great local cause.
“We are going to have free hot-dogs, drinks and popcorn at the show, and that is going to be done by the folks from Cullman Childhaven Children’s Home,” said Drake. “The food will be provided for free but we will have donation jars up, and the donations will go to Childhaven, which is obviously a great local cause.”
Eckenrod Ford is also trying to accommodate more parking space for the expected crowd, said Drake.
“We are going to have parking around at the back of the building,” Drake said. “If that is already full, then cars will probably be lined up all the way down the median of 157.”
“There is going to be a lot of cool stuff out here Saturday, and we really hope a lot of folks will come out and have fun with us,” Drake said.
