Opening day ceremonies to kick off Friday night
The City of Fultondale is inviting residents to come take part in opening day ceremonies at the city’s new baseball complex on Friday at 6 p.m.
Mayor Jim Lowery said the ceremonies are the culmination of the city’s efforts in relocating the athletic parks and the construction of the new elementary school, which is adjacent to the baseball complex.
“It’s going to be a great situation that will last the community for many, many years,” Lowery said. “Everyone’s very excited and we’re asking everyone to come out and enjoy themselves.”
Former Fultondale Mayor John McCain and longtime youth athletics supporter Leldon Hooten are scheduled to throw out the first pitches.
A fireworks display is also scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
Lowery said in case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be pushed back to Saturday at 6 p.m.
