Garden tip: Now is the time to prune your rose bushes and also to fertilize your daylilies. Refert-ilize your daylilies again in July for the flowers next year.

• New Bethel Baptist Church will host a singing on March 30. The singers will be Straight Way and will start at 7 p.m.

• The Corner Theatre presents “Little Shop of Horrors” by Howard Ashman and directed by Mike Putman. Call to inquire about tickets at 379-3200 ext. 242.

• The Warrior Lions Club still has historical calendars. If you are collecting all of these calendars, be sure to pick one up, because when they are gone, there will be no more for this year.

• Sympathy and prayers are needed for the family of James Burke Crane. He went to be with the Lord last week. May God be with the family as they deal with their loss.

• The North End Council of Gardendale are planning the North End Flower Show that will be at the Gardendale Civic Center April 16-17. More information will be printed in this column. Overton Farms will help the council with the flowers they decorate with. This show is always free. If you have never gone to this flower show and love flowers, you need to come and take a look. Some of the ladies and gents have never made designs, but they make some beautiful flower arrangements. Ron and Judy always give a great discount to the ladies that decorate for the flower show.

• Happy birthday to: Bryan Blackmon on March 30; Deanna (Dee Dee) Eady on April 1; Jewel Owens and Angela Huguley on April 2. May all have a great birthday and a great year.

• Happy anniversary wishes go to Donna and Al Washington. They are a wonderful couple that are celebrating their 32nd anniversary on March 27. Hope you have many more great years together. To a wonderful couple of friends we send them our love.

• We need to pray for the upcoming election and for our troops that are in harms’ way.
