Bob Jones wins at Corner, 16-7

CORNER — The Corner Yellow Jackets hit the ball well at times Friday night, but they couldn’t match the Bob Jones Patriots, as the visitors took home a 16-7 win.
Corner fell to 7-7 with the loss. At the plate, Derrick Roberts had an RBI-double and scored a run, Jake Eiland had two doubles and scored twice, Zac Reeves hit a two-run homer, had a single and scored twice, Caleb Hoyle had a two-run double. Paul Vinning had a single, walked once and scored a run.
Reeves took the loss.

Alan Loggins, James Stewart and Jeremy Holcombe combined on a shutout. Loggins pitched three innings of one-hit ball, followed by Holcombe and Stewart with one inning each.
At the plate, Patrick Barr went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Nick Love went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Lee Smith went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Trey Higginbotham scored twice and Joey Payton had one hit and scored two runs.
Tabernacle 9,
Evangel 7
The Torches opened their season with a come from behind win.
Tabernacle pitchers allowed four first inning runs, but the Torches’ bats would get them out of the hole.
Bradley White was the Torches starting pitcher and gave up five runs in two innings, but only one run was earned.
Seth White followed and threw four shutout innings to give the offense time to get going.
Landon Ingle finished up the game with one inning of work.
Will Lankford led the way, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and and RBI.
Austin Thompson went 1-for-2 and had two RBIs.
Bradley White, Steven White and Jarod Higganbotham had one hit and one RBI each as coach Tim Thompson’s club hit their way back for the win.
