FULTONDALE — Yogi Berra was right. In baseball, it ain’t over until it’s over. On Tuesday night, the Fultondale Wildcats game with the Erwin Eagles looked to be over in the top of the seventh inning, as the home team lead 6-4. But the Eagles used only one hit to score two runs to tie the game at 6-all.

Finally, in the bottom of the frame, the Wildcat’s Jake Estes led off the inning by reaching on an error. He then stole second base and moved to third on a wild pitch. On the next pitch, he scored on a passed ball.

The Wildcats lead early, 2-0, but fell behind 4-2 in the fourth, when the Eagles scored four runs to chase Fultondale starter Gary Willis.

Fultondale responded with a three-run rally in the fifth inning to take the lead back. Adam Kyle led off the inning with a single. He moved to second on Landon Robinson’s single. Both runners then moved up a base on a passed ball. One out later, Estes then sent both runners home to tie the game at 4-all as he reached on an infield single.

Estes moved to second on an Erwin error and advanced to third on a passed ball. Another passed ball sent Estes home and the Wildcats had the lead, 5-4.

Robinson relieved Willis to pick up the win. He threw the final three innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out seven Eagles.

The victory put the Wildcats back over the .500 mark at 4-3.

Robinson went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Estes went 1-for-3, scored twice and had two RBIs. Chris Conn went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Daniel Ferrell and Nathan Graham scored one run each.
