Relay for Life

The North Jefferson Relay for Life season is under way. Help take up the fight against cancer. Relay still needs teams and team captains. Team captain meetings will be held on Feb. 21, March 13 and April 10 at the Alabama Power office on Main Street in Gardendale, next to the Western super market. The meetings will begin at 5 p.m. Bank Night will be held at SouthPoint bank in Gardendale on April 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. Relay for Life will be held at the Gardendale Soccer Complex on May 2 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. For more information about Relay for Life, visit http://events.cancer.org/rflnorthjeffersonal or contact Stephanie Crabtree at 930-8896.



Magnolia Festival

April 19 Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for the annual Magnolia Festival at the Gardendale Civic Center. Come for live entertainment, featuring bluegrass, pop, Christian music; classic car show, carnival rides, pony rides and inflatables for the kids, arts and crafts booths, business expo, great food including barbeque, ice cream, funnel cakes, etc. For more information visit www.magnoliafestival.org. Trip Meeting

Feb. 28 A group of travelers from our area will be touring the Pacific Coast this summer on June 22 –July 1. The ten-day itinerary begins with a flight to San Francisco and a tour of that city. Subsequently, the tour will follow the scenic coastline through northern California, Oregon, and Washington with numerous sight-seeing stops along the way. A round-trip ferry ride and day in Victoria in British Columbia, Canada is also included. Anyone is welcome to participate, and an interest meeting for those who want more information will be held in the library at Bragg Middle School at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28. Help Wanted

Royal Family Kids’ Camp is a week long sleep over camp for abused and neglected children. Gardendale Mt Vernon UMC will be sponsoring a camp this summer. We will also throw a birthday party for all the campers since some of them never get a birthday party thrown for them. If you would like to be a counselor for two of these special children, please contact Paul Wiegert at the church office at 631-7631. There will be mandatory training in order to prepare you for this wonderful experience.



Homecoming and Revival

March 2 Pineywood Baptist Church will be celebrating their 70th anniversary on March 2. All Former members, visitors and home folks are welcome to come visit at 10:45 a.m. and stay for a covered lunch at noon followed by Sacred harvest Quartet around 1:30 p.m. For more information call 631-3832. We will also be having a revival from March 10 through April 2 with Rev. John Hull. Services begin at 7 p.m.



Casting

March 2 The Presbyterian School of Fine Arts will hold auditions for the musical Grease on March 2 from 2-4 p.m. at the school on Tarrant Road. Casting will be for teenagers and young adults. For additional information call Judy Watson at 631-4508.



Bunko

March 8 The AEGIS community bunko is coming up on March 8 at the Gardendale Civic Center. Doors open at 5:40 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and bunko play begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30. This covers two people for dinner and bunko. There will be door prizes and a silent auction with items donated by local businesses. There will also be a raffle for $150 cash with tickets at $1 each as well as an exclusive teacher drawing (teachers must buy a ticket and be present to win). Tickets are available at Capital South (ask for Leenise 849-5481).



Arts and Craft Show

March 14, 15 The North Arts Council is presenting their spring arts and craft show at the Gardendale Civic Center. It will be March 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to have a booth at the show please contact Angie Doss at 681-8028.





Kimberly



Singing

March 2 Kimberly United Methodist Church will have a singing on March 2 at 2 p.m. The Straight Way Quartet will be the singers and there will be lunch served after morning worship. For more information please call Cathy Tucker at 901-8476 or 647-3635.

Revival

March 3 Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hayden will have a revival on March 3-7 at 7 p.m. Evangelist will be Bro. Gary Creel. For more information, call 647-1578.



Golf Tournament

May 17 A Hayden Band Boosters golf tournament is set for May 17, 8 a.m., at Plantation Golf Course in Hayden. It is a scramble top tournament. The cost is $50 per person or $200 per team. The price includes a barbecue lunch. Players should be registered by April 18. For more information, call Randy Hudson at (205) 559-7217.
