Lady Torches reach state final

The Tabernacle Lady Torches moved into the ACEAA girls state championship game with a 45-24 semi-final rout on Glen Iris, Friday.
“We played some great defense,” Tabernacle head coach Phillip Coleman. “We pushed the ball in transition on offense. We dominated from start to finish.”
Tabernacle raced to a 15-1 lead and was never challenged.
Senior post player Meghan Hallice led the offense with 19 points. She also grabbed nine rebounds. Candace Coleman added 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Savannah Harper added six points and three rebounds, Kari White had two points and two steals and both Heather Zassoda and Anna Kaetz scored two points for the winners.
Tabernacle improved to 20-5 on the season and will face the winner of Northside-Dothan/Victory-Columbus game, today at 1:15 p.m. at the Oxford Civic Center for the state title.
In 2006, the Tabernacle girls won the ACEAA state title.
