Video Games Night
Jan. 18 Come to a night of video games and fun for high school students called the arcade on Jan. 18 from 6-11 p.m. at Gardendale Mt. Vernon (on Highway 31 next to Kmart). There will be lots of games, and a Halo 3 tournament. Check out www.thearcade.weebly.com for more information.
Archery
Jan. 27 Centershot is an exciting archery program geared to teach students of all ages. Bible Study

Help Wanted
Royal Family Kids’ Camp is a week long sleep over camp for abused and neglected children. Gardendale Mt Vernon UMC will be sponsoring a camp this summer. We will also throw a birthday party for all the campers since some of them never get a birthday party thrown for them. If you would like to be a counselor for two of these special children, please contact Paul Wiegert at the church office at 631-7631. There will be mandatory training in order to prepare you for this wonderful experience.
Men’s Basketball Open Gym

Special Service
Jan. 27 The Mineral Springs Baptist Church will have a singing on Jan. 27 with special guests The Royal Masters Quartet. They will be singing at 10:30 a.m. There will be a special message by the pastor, Rev. Thomas Perkins at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon. The Royal Masters Quartet will be singing after lunch from 1:30 – 3 p.m. Everyone is invited for this special day of recognizing Rev. Thomas Perkins for 57 years in the gospel ministry. Jan. 27 The Birmingham Ballroom Dance Association (BBDA) will have a dance on Jan. 27 from 2-5 p.m. at the Homewood Senior Center. For more info call 332-6500. $7 members, $10 guests, $5 students with ID. Dancers of all ages are welcome.
Free Computer Classes
Jan. 21 Free computer classes will begin at Hayden the first week of February. Microsoft word, excel and power point will be taught weekly. Classes will last 90 minutes and will be taught using a textbook and a disk containing practical and helpful exercises. The course is free (except for materials) and will last 12 to 14 weeks. The only requirement for the classes is that you be old enough to be a grandparent and have some basic knowledge about a computer. You must enroll by Jan. 21.
