Jasper Lee Martin, age 80 of Gardendale passed away surrounded by his loving wife, devoted daughters and sons-in-law on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Martin; their four daughters, Sandra (John) McCoy of Gardendale; Susan (Floy) Spencer of Alabaster, Deborah (Robert) Barnwell of Kimberly, and Lisa (Steven) Reid of Dothan; their seven grandchildren Chris (Amy) McCoy, Tammy McCoy, Stephanie (Dave) Booth, Nicole (Ron) Keel, Kirk (Hannah) Reid, Doug and Megan Barnwell; their three great-grandchildren Joshua and Kendall McCoy and Jane Booth and his siblings Rafford and James Martin and Pernie Hood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Fannie Martin his son, Jasper Lee Martin Jr., and his siblings Charlie, Chester and Roy Martin, Ian Haynes and Bertha Mann. Mr. Martin was an Army veteran serving in Germany. He was a member of Gardendale’s First Baptist Church. During his retirement years he enjoyed gardening, tending his fish pond and visiting his family and friends. He was a good man who loved his family and was loved by all who knew him. Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. from the graveside in Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Winston County.
