Blue Devils take second at tourney

The North Jefferson Middle School seventh grade boy’s basketball team took second place at the Panther Holiday tourney at Maddox Middle School.
In the eighth grade tourney, the Blue Devils failed to reach the championship game.
Seventh grade games:
North Jefferson 24, Maddox 19
Oran Recke led the way with nine points, followed by Mark Louis and Ty Miller with six each.
The Blue Devils shot 7-of-11 from the foul line.
North Jefferson 43,
Echols 41
The Blue Devils trailed by six with less than a minute to play, but went on a 8-0 run to pull out the victory.
Miller and Luke Agnesia sank 3-point shots on back-to-back trips down the floor for North Jefferson to force a tie at 41-all. Two foul shots provided the winning margin.
Recke led the way with 20 points, followed by Miller with seven, Louis and Agnesia had six points each.

North Jefferson 26
North Jefferson trailed by three points with one minute to play, but they were unable to sink a 3-pointer to force a tie.
Recke scored 11, followed by Miller with six points.
Eighth grade games:
Maddox 39,
North Jefferson 25
The eighth grade Blue Devils dropped their opening tourney game with the tourney hosts.
The home team took a 25-15 lead into the half and never trailed in the second half.
Marquis Dobbs led North Jefferson with 17 points.
Fayette 46,
North Jefferson 41
North Jefferson led by 10 in the third quarter, but then Fayette took over with a offensive outburst in the fourth quarter.
Nick Renshaw and Dobbs led the Blue Devils with 14 points each, followed by Tyler Pelkey with eight.
