Special Services

Jan. 6 Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church will be having a community watch night service to prepare for the New Year with spiritual resolutions on Dec. 30. For more information call 631-7631. They will also be having a prayer service for teachers/students returning to school at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church on Jan. 6, 2008.



Classes

Jan. 9 Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church’s Wednesday night G.R.O.W. classes will begin on Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. This session we will be offering disciple Bible classes I, II, and III, a men’s Bible study using Coach Tony Dungy’s materials, Good Sense, a financial management course, a discover your serve class which helps determine what our spiritual gifts are and several outstanding Bible study classes. Special Services

Jan. 13 Gardendale-Mt.Vernon UMC will start a sermon series on Jan. 13, 2008 on the “Ordinary Men” – those Jesus chose to be his disciples. It will be at the evening service, 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. This is a teaching/ preaching style service and all are welcomed.



Pageant

Jan. 12 There will be a Senior Ms. Magic City Pageant on Jan. 12 at Gardendale First Baptist Church the Lighthouse. For more information call Ambree Gober at 590-0555 or 401-3144. This is a preliminary pageant for Senior Ms. Alabama. Contestants must be at least 60 years old, U.S. citizen and a resident of Alabama.



Sermon Series

Jan. 13 A new sermon series called “Ordinary Men” or the men Jesus chose starts Sunday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Gardendale Mt. Vernon UMC Sanctuary. For more info call 631-7631.



Dance

Jan. 15 The Winter Wonderland Dance, sponsored by The Gardendale Arts Council is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center. In preparation for the dance we will again be offering six dance lessons. The lessons will be each Tuesday at 7 p.m. beginning Jan. 15 through Feb. 18. Each 1 hour lesson will be $5 per participant, no reservation or enrollment required. The first three lessons will be Cha-Cha. On Monday, Jan. 28, the Arts Council will have a Cha-Cha practice time from 7 till 8:30 p.m. The last 3 lessons will be Foxtrot. On Monday, Feb. 18, the Arts Council will have a Foxtrot practice time from 7 till 8:30 p.m. Jackie Tally will be our new instructor this year.



TOPS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday, 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, Room 2028. Robert Pliner is the Leader. For more information call 608-0606.

Free Child Care

Class

Jan. 16 The Cullman County Office of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System in cooperation with the Cullman County Master Gardener Association is offering the Alabama Master Gardener Course Jan. 16, 2008 through April 9, 2008. The class will meet each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the conference room located in the basement of the county office building in Cullman.
