Corner wins Curry Christmas tourney

Corner spoiled the party at Curry on Saturday night, as the visiting Yellow Jackets whipped the hosts in the finals of the Curry Christmas tournament, 39-35.
In the final, Corner jumped out to a seven-point lead after one quarter, 12-5, but Curry would cut the lead to three by the half and then used a 15-5 run in the third quarter to get out in front, 27-20.
Corner (11-6) responded with a 19-8 run to close the game and grab the title.
B.J. Slatton led a balanced Corner attack with 11 points, including 6-of-7 from the free throw line, followed by Cody Green with seven, Kyle Belcher with six, Adam Norris and Blake Anderson scored five each, Seth Hand added three and Cody Foster scored two points.
Anderson was named the tourney’s MVP.

Corner (10-6) led by four after one quarter, seven after two and eight after three quarters before coasting into the tourney championship game.
Slatton led the way with 16 points, followed by Belcher with 15 points and 11 rebounds, Anderson scored 13 and handed out nine assists, Norris scored 12 to give the Yellow Jackets four double-digit scorers.
Damon Knox added six, Hand and Jake Eiland scored two and Jake McCombs had one point.

The Blue Devils (3-6) opened the game with a 22-11 run to take control and beat the Wildcats for the second time this season.
The Wildcats closed with six after three quarters, 59-53, but the Blue Devils went on a 22-10 run to end the game.
Nathan McIntosh led Mortimer Jordan with a game-high 16 points, followed by Joey Payton with 14. Ceasar Bell had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Desmond Brown scored 11. Brent Nation scored nine points and passed off 10 assists. Josh Vaughn scored eight points, John “Jabo” Burrow scored four, Clint Brown scored three, Ryan Densmore scored two and Patrick Mitchell added one point.
For the Wildcats, Nick Hardy and Josh Piteo led the way with 14 points each, followed by Matthew Stewart with eight, Nick Burton with seven, Owen Hargett with six, Cody Butler and Sean Davis with five each, Brain Jones with three and Terrell Parker scored one point. Hardy grabbed 10 rebounds and Hargett had nine.
