Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus will be spotted in the city of Warrior on Christmas Eve night, riding a Warrior Fire Department fire truck. He will travel through neighborhoods in the city and will likely make stops for groups of children.

NJN deadlines change
The North Jefferson News will close Monday at noon in observance of the Christmas holiday. Our offices will reopen Wednesday at 8 a.m. The classified deadlines for the Jan. 2 edition will be Dec. 28 at noon. Deadlines for the Dec. 29 issue remain the same. Our offices will be closed on Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day, but will reopen Jan. 2 at 8 a.m. We wish all of our readers a very merry Christmas.

Tree recycling offered
The Gardendale Public Works Department will again provide Christmas tree recycling to residents. Trees can be dropped off on Dec. 27, 28 and Dec. 31 from 8 to 11 a.m. and on Dec. 29 from 8 a.m. to noon at the public works department’s brush recycling site on Fieldstown Road, next to the soccer fields. Riley: Jobless rate low
Gov. Bob Riley announced Friday that Alabama’s unemployment rate remained a low 3.5 percent for the month of November. That is an increase from October’s record low unemployment rate of 3.1 percent for the state. Alabama’s unemployment rate remains below the national rate, which is 4.7 percent.
