The Gardendale Soccer Club 19-under team named Hot Spurs finished second in the Governor’s Cup tournament in Decatur.

The Hot Spurs, who won their region during the regular season with an 11-0 record, reached the final with a tie and two wins.

The Hot Spurs opened the tourney with 0-0 tie against the North Alabama Crossfire. In the second round, they whipped the Demopolis Soccer Club, 6-2.

In the tourney semi-finals, they edged Deportivo Barcelona, 1-0.

In the final, they had to settle for the silver medals, after a 2-1 loss to he North Alabama Crossfire. The Hot Spurs, who are coached by brothers Brad and Adam Farley, finished the year with a 14-1-1 mark.

“We’ve gotten great support from our parents and the club. With the talent on this team, Gardendale High soccer should have an exciting year to look forward to.”
