Wilbur Thomas (Tommy) McCormick

Wilbur Thomas (Tommy) McCormick, age 68 of Mt. Olive, passed away on Nov. 30 2007. Born Nov. 24, 1939, Tommy was raised in Mt. Olive. He was a 1958 graduate at Mortimer Jordan High School. He was the owner of McCormick Cabinets and a well respected businessman for over 40 years. He was an extraordinarily talented cabinet maker whose work was featured in Southern Living Magazine, Birmingham Magazine and Birmingham Home and Garden. Tommy was legendary for his work ethic and honesty. Through his accomplishments, he had a profound influence on those who knew him. Tommy and Brenda, his wife of 49 years, enjoyed a full life which included travel to destinations such as Chine, Europe and the Caribbean just to name a few. They also cherished their home and friends in Panama City Beach, Fla. He is preceded in death by his father, Buren (Boots) McCormick. He is survived by his mother, Agnes McCormick; his loving wife Brenda; sister, Jeanette (Therman) Crawford and brothers, Howard (Diane) McCormick and Carl (Sheri) McCormick. He leaves behind three daughters; Terrie (Randy) Teeter, Cathy (Jim) Ingalls and Anne (Tim) Wooten and nine grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Grumps”; Joseph and Andrew Teeter, Candice, Aaron, Courtney and Bobby Ingalls; Cole Allyson and Alyssa Wooten along with a host of extended family and friends. Tommy was a man of few words but his actions touched many. He will be greatly missed. Graveside services were held at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
