Morris

Missing man located


The mother of Bobby Davis, a Morris man reported missing last month, said she has heard from her son. Jean Davis said her son contacted her on Tuesday. It was the first time she had heard from him since Oct. 22. Davis said her son is in an unspecified part of Georgia.



Fultondale

Business license reforms adopted


The following items were on the agenda of the Fultondale CIty Council at its Nov. 13 council meeting:

• A retail liquor license was approved for Full House, located at 2205 Decatur Hwy.

• The council approved an ordinance to amend the city’s business license ordinance in accordance with the Business License Reform Act of 2006

• Mayor Jim Lowery also appointed accountants to conduct an audit for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2007



Montgomery

Unemployment rate at new low


Alabama’s unemployment rate fell to a new record low in October, Gov. Bob Riley announced on Friday. The state’s unemployment rate declined from 3.7 percent in September to 3.1 percent in October, the lowest monthly unemployment rate ever. A year ago, Alabama’s unemployment rate stood at 3.6 percent. Alabama’s unemployment rate is still well below the national rate, which stood at 4.7 percent in October.
