Albert Leonard ‘Al’ Simmons

Funeral services for Albert Leonard “Al” Simmons, 50, of Cullman will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Bros. Randy Millican and Delbert Freeman officiating, with interment in Mt. Herman Cemetery in Baileyton.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Simmons died Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 6, 1957, in Huntington, W.V., to C.A. and Betty Stasik Simmons. He was a supervisor with Rehau. He received these military decorations, medals and citations while serving in the U.S. Army: the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwestern Asia Service Medal with three bronze stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Expert Badge (rifle and hand grenade), and the Driver Badge.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandmother, Marie Stasik.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Smith Simmons; a daughter, Marcie Black; three sons, Chris Simmons, Stephen Simmons and Alvin (Susan) Weeks; his mother; three brothers, Rick (Barb) Simmons, Phil (Sandy) Simmons and Ed (Sandy) Simmons; two sisters, Rita (Bob) James and Cindy (David) McComas; five grandchildren, Christian Simmons, Destiny Simmons, Brittney Black, Blake Black, Addison Weeks and an unborn baby girl; a father-in-law, Claude W. Smith; a mother-in-law, Stacy M. Smith; special friends, Judy Tomlin, Jill Fritz, Joyce and George Krigbaum, Val and Phillip Dunn, Chris Small and Craig Villanueva (Army buddies), Jamie Wren, Terrell Haynes and many, many more; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
