Billy Madison Brown

Funeral services for Billy Madison Brown, 81, of Vinemont will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, the Revs. Robert Partridge and Delwin Kilgo officiating, with burial in Arley Congregational Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Cullman. He was born on Sept. 25, 1926, in Cullman to Carl and Lois Tidwell Brown. He served in the World War II and Korea in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Oladeen Brown; a brother, Boots Brown; a sister, Chris Reynolds; and an infant daughter, Jill.

Survivors include a son, David (Tanya) Brown; a daughter, Phyllis (Darrell) Ford; a brother, Junior Brown; two sisters, Kathy Watts and Margene Brown; three grandchildren, Justin and Tony Brown and Haley (Chris) Freeman; and five great-grandchildren, Lindsie, Nic and Stone Freeman, and Skarlet West and Kali Brown.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Johnnie Franklin ‘John’ Yarbrough

Funeral services for Johnnie Franklin “John” Yarbrough, 88, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Riverside Baptist Church, Greg Aldridge and Joe Easterwood officiating, with interment with military honors in Riverside Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Yarbrough passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Jan. 7, 1919, in Cleburne County to Patrick Jefferson “Jeff” and Rhoda Montana Hill Yarbrough. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned a Purple Heart in Belgium, a Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, a World War II Victory Medal and others. He ran a crop and cattle farm for many years and attended Riverside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Jeff Jr., Toby, Harvey, Charley, Frank and Tom Yarbrough; three sisters, Mae and Minnie Yarbrough and Annie Pearl Strickland; and a great-grandson, Skyler Morton.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Audrey Entrekin Yarbrough; two daughters, Janice (Wayne) Aldridge and Dianne (James) Reynolds; two sons, Glen (Heidi) Yarbrough and Benny (Janice) Yarbrough; two sisters, Ruth (Verbon) Doty and Rhoda Howard; a brother, Dewey (Yvonne) Yarbrough; four sisters-in-law, Clercy, Hazel, T. and Chris Yarbrough; a brother-in-law, Walter Strickland; 12 grandchildren, Nancy, Jeff, Paul, Amy, Greg, Dwight, Dana, Donna, Nicole, Johnny, Donny and Debbie; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Baptist Church.



Annie O. Turner

Funeral services for Annie O. Turner, 94, of Hanceville will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Moss-Service Chapel, Fr. John O’ Donnell officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Turner died Monday, Nov. 12, at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab. She was born on Dec. 19, 1912, to Quintillo and Maria Bruccani Orazine. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Thomas G. Turner.

Survivors include a son, Tom (Pam) Turner of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Sally (John) Dahlke of Cullman; five grandchildren, Sharon (Max) Farley of Cullman, John Thomas Dahlke of San Diego, Calif., Vickie (John) Vogel of Arlington, Texas, Maureen Turner of San Francisco, Calif., and Jenne Turner of Philadelphia, Pa.; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.



Shirley Joann Garlen

Funeral services for Shirley Joann Garlen, 72, of Vinemont will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Larry Duke officiating, with interment in Sardis No. 2 Cemetery in Addison.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Garlen died Monday, Nov. 12, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 11, 1935, in Winston County to Charles W. and Essie Mae Moore McCain. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Charles Eric “Dunk” Garlen.

Survivors include her husband, Roby Garlen Jr. of Vinemont; two daughters, Mickey (Larry) Duke and Andy (Donald) Wilson, both of Vinemont; a sister, Kathleen Cheatham of Cullman; five grandchildren, Adam Duke, Sidney (Erica) Duke, Sawyer Duke, Taylor Wilson and Kell Wilson; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxson Garrison and Carter Duke.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



Levi Allen Hokanson

No services are planned for Levi Allen Hokanson, 19, of Cullman, who died on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hokanson was born on April 25, 1988, in Pocatello, Idaho. He worked as a laborer.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Shari Paige; and two grandfathers, Richard Wilson and Emry Waters.

Survivors include his mother, Denise Douglas (Terry) Waters; his father, Michael (Dawn) Hokanson; two sisters; four brothers; four grandmothers; two grandfathers; and several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

We all love and will miss you so very much.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
