Garden tip: Fall is here. The straw is falling and now we have to rake. Use the straw on flower beds. Before placing the new straw on the beds, remove all of the old leaves, straw or other material, then place it on fresh raked beds.

• To Nelle Bruce, I was proud to see your picture in The North Jefferson News, celebrating 99 great years. Nelle Bruce is a wonderful lady. My article had your birthday greeting on Aug. 18. I also share this birthday with you. This was left out and your name was printed wrong. Since her birthday, Nelle has fallen and broken her hip. Get well soon, Nelle. She was a member of the Blue Star Garden Club for years. A great lady and get will soon. Our prayers are for you.
