Wash plants with soapy water, shelter them before bringing inside

Garden tip: Get your house plants ready to place them inside for winter. Wash them with soapy water, then put them in a sheltered place like a covered porch. They should be left sheltered for about two weeks, then brought inside. This is better for the plant.

• Sympathy and prayers go to Ovella C. Wright. She lived in this area after she married. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church on Warrior-Jasper Road. Her family will miss her greatly, as will her friends. To her husband, Levonzie Wright, our prayers are for you at this time of your loss. To the children, our prayers are for you also. May God be with you at this time of your life.
• The regular monthly community church service will be held at Stewart’s Chapel on Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. All of the community churches are involved.
• Please continue to pray for our United States and our troops that are in harm’s way.
