Sam Carlton Morgan

Sam Carlton Morgan, age 73, of Cullman, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. Funeral services will be held at graveside service (Morris Cemetery) on Saturday September 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. with burial in Morris Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Emma Morgan. Survivors: sons Rodney Morgan of Crossville, Tenn. and Michael Morgan of Birmingham, daughters Michele Landwlt of Bartow, Fla., Carla Morgan Mathews of Frostprof, Fla. and Sandy Morgan Pensacola, Fla., brother John Morgan of Birmingham, sister Margaret Morgan of Daphne, also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was also a veteran of the Korean War.

Barbara Fay McCafferty

Barbara Fay McCafferty age 60, of Springville, Alabama, passed away on Thursday September 6, 2007. Funeral services were held at Northpark Baptist Church with burial in Warrior Cemetery. Bro. Bill Wilks officiated. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Juanita Knopf and sister Sherry Lawson. Survivors: husband Billy McCafferty, daughters Patricia Allison and Susan (Mike) Estock, former son-in-law Mike Allison, grandchildren Terry, Kevin and Michael Allison, Miranda and Marissa Estock, cousin Glenda Guthrie, nieces Anita Johnson, Ginger Nash, host of other family members. Mrs. McCafferty was a faithful member of Northpark Baptist Church, she was also a well loved square dancer in the Birmingham area.

Ovella C. Wright

Ovella C. Wright, age 93 of Warrior was born Aug. 6, 1914. She went to be with the Lord on Sept. 6, 2007. She is survived by Levonzie W. Wright, her beloved husband of 72 years; two sons, Donald (Dot), Larry (Carolyn) and two daughters Verline Holcombe and Gail (Johnny) Rock all of Warrior; grandchildren, William (Elena) and Tim (Wendy) Wright; Ricky (Janice) Rock, Micky (Rhonda) Rock, Keith Rock and George Holcombe; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Jones, Adam Wright, Amanda Wright, Hunter Wright, Jonathan Rock, Jared and Josh Horton, Jake and Nick Holcombe; great-great-grandchildren, Sophia Wright and Parker Jones all of whom she loved very dearly. Ovella was preceded in death by her sister, Hester Rice and two brothers, Marvin and Lester Greathouse of Hanceville. Honored friends: Ostelle and C.D. Redman; Bonnie Murray and Betty Edmonds and a host of relatives and friends. Ovella was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church at Warrior. Services were held at New Bethel Baptist with burial in New Bethel Cemetery. Gary Creel and Wayne Williams officiated.

Martin David Otis

Martin David Otis, age 77 of Mt. Olive, passed away on September 9, 2007. He was proceeded in death by his son, Randy Otis. Mr. Otis attended Gardendale First Baptist Church as well as served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his loving wife, Gayle Otis; children, Megan Parrish (Joe), Dustin Otis, Meredith Nesbitt (David), Heather Otis, Kendra Otis, Trippman Otis, Tiffany Otis; great-grandchild, Cole Nesbitt; sisters, Louise Snyder and Violet Nail and several nieces, nephews and many friends. Services were held at the chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Rev. Richard Coggin officiated.
