Mt. Olive

Burglars attempt to rob pharmacy

Two would-be thieves attempted to break in to The Pharmacy at Mt. Olive at 2660 Mt. Olive Road early Monday morning. According to a press release from pharmacist Steve Mullenix, the suspects, who have not been identified, tried to enter through the front door, which is fortified with a second steel security door. He said security cameras on the premises filmed the suspects, who were reportedly driving a blue car.

In the release, he said he was concerned that no one witnessed the attempted break-in. “I would think if someone saw two men at four in the morning with a crowbar pulling on the door of a business, they would at least call 9-11.”

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the attempted break-in. Spokesman Sgt. Randy Christian said the suspects apparently fled when the pharmacy’s alarm went off.
