Torches stay perfect with 62-14 win

Tabernacle set the bar even higher for themselves as they continued with another win Friday night on the road.

They beat the New Life Eagles 62-14 in yet another high scoring victory. The most negative thing about the game was the points scored against Tabernacle, the first of this season.

Striking early, Whaley scored on a 5-yard run, and White followed with a 3-yard run on the 2-point conversion. Tabernacle 7, New Life, 0.

The next points added came from an outstanding run which brought the fans to their feet, when Landon Ingle ran 84 yards to paydirt.

Then Whaley passed to Lankford for the two points bringing the first quarter score to 16-0,

The second quarter opened with a safety against New Life on a bad snap, and end zone recovery.

Then Simms caught the ball from Whaley for another score on a 44-yard pass, increasing the lead 22-0. Still in the second quarter Bradley White ran for 11 yards scoring again, and this time, the points after were successful when Wade ran the ball into the end zone.

Tabernacle extended their lead on a pass from Whaley to Wade for 10 more yards and Wade also scored the two points running back into the end zone for a second time in as many plays. Torches 40, Eagles 0.

The Tabernacle team did not let up and scored again in the third quarter on a 15-yard run by Ingle, but the conversion failed. Then Billy Lopez carried the ball 31 yards for yet another touchdown and this time the points after were good, giving the Tabernacle team a lead of 54-0.

The Eagles rallied in the third quarter scoring on a 3-yard run and the two points after was good beginning the fourth quarter with a score of 54-8.

Both teams scored in the final quarter Tabernacle on an 18-yard run by Lopez. New life then scored on a 10-yard run, both teams failed to convert the point-afters, making the final score, Torches 62, Eagles 14.
