Miracle League gala rescheduled

A gala to raise funds for the planned Miracle League baseball field in Gardendale has been rescheduled to Nov. 6. The gala, sponsored by the Rotary Club in Gardendale, was initially to be held Thursday night at The Club in Homewood. The event was moved to accommodate a golf tournament held the same night, also benefiting the Miracle League project. Rotary Club President Aaron Box said it’s important that everyone in the community will have the opportunity to participate in both events. “We found out there was another event the same evening and we had the ability to reschedule,” Box said. “We want to support the Miracle League and this new park and whatever we can do to help that, that’s what we want to do.” Tickets for the gala are still available. The cost is $250 per couple. Those who purchase tickets will be entered into a drawing to win a grand prize of $20,000. Other door prizes with a value of at least $250 will also be given away throughout the evening. To purchase tickets, contact Box at 631-6562.

On Friday and Saturday, members of Fultondale’s volunteer fire department cooked Boston butt roasts and slabs of ribs to raise money for a clothing and equipment fund for the fire and police departments. “The community turned out in droves. … It was an incredible outpouring,” Graham said.
