UAB holding blood drive
UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) and the American Red Cross are teaming up for another blockbuster blood drive that started on Labor Day weekend. The eight-day drive, called “Blood Donor Parade of Life-Saving Magic” will run through Sept. 7 at UAB Hospital’s North Pavilion. All donors will be eligible for a drawing for two roundtrip Delta International airline tickets and a drawing for a four day-three night trip to Walt Disney World. A UAB/Red Cross drive in July netted over 1,000 units of blood and officials hope to collect 1,500 units during this drive. The drive will be on the 2nd floor of the North Pavilion, 18th Street and 6th Ave.
• Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m.
• Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Free parking for donors is available at the parking deck at 18th St. and 4th Ave. Donors can make an appointment to speed the donation process by going to www.givelife.org and keying in ‘UAB’ on the sponsor code.
