Junanita Kay Sheats

Junanita Kay Sheats, age 42, of Warrior, passed away on Tuesday July 10, 2007. Funeral services will be held at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home on Thursday July 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 12, 2007 from 11 a.m. until service time. Survivors: daughter Stephanie (Wes) Cagel, father and mother Fred and Doris Sheats, sister Lisa Wilson, brothers Lames Luwayne Sheats and Freddie Delane Sheats, grandchildren Jade Annalyce White and Aidan Wesley Cagle also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and cousins and a son Greg Farris.

Robert (P.W.) Paul Whitfield

Robert (P.W.) Paul Whitfield, age 59, of Warrior, originally from Westover Alabama passed away on Tuesday July 10, 2007 from complications of several strokes. Funeral services will be held at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home on Saturday July 14, 2007 at 2 p.m. with burial in Stewarts Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Darrell Chamblee officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 14, 2007 from 11-2 p.m. at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl W. and Blanche Helen Tucker Whitfield. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Lucky Quinn Whitfield of Warrior, daughter, Nancy (Robby) Stephens of Pinson, sons Rex E. White of Warrior, and Greg (Jennifer) White, eight grandchildren, sister, Elizabeth (Libba) Sherrell and husband Lamar of Westover and brothers, Earl M. (Frances) Whitfield of Bedford Texas, David W. (Gloria) Whitfield of Williston, Florida, and Herbert L. (Barbara) Whitfield of Gardendale. Paul served in the United States Navy with Attack Squadron 82 aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Coral Sea in the Western Pacific. Members of the Squadron were conducting air operations in support of allied forces in Vietnam. When he returned to the states he continued serving his country in the National Guard. He leaves a large group of nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed as a husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Clifton P. Harnden

Clifton P. Harnden, age 83 of Gardendale, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2007. Clifton P. Harnden was born in Massachusetts. He was a WWII Veteran who served one tour in the U.S. Navy and another tour in the U.S. Air Force. He served on the U.S.S. Bunker Hill. Mr. Harnden, received a Presidential Unit Citation for heroism in the Pacific War Theater. He retired from Reynolds Metal Company after 22 years of service and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is preceded in death by his mother, Anna M. Harnden. He is survived by his devoted wife of 15 years, Bonnie Harnden, three nephews including Larry Harnden and Robert Dale Harnden and also survived by a host of friends. Services were held at Morgan’s @ Gardendale Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
