June Pugh Reid

June Pugh Reid, of Morris, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2007, at the age of 73. She was retired from the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. Mrs. Reid was a dedicated Christian and former Sunday School teacher who faithfully attended Enon Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was loved by all. Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James R. “Jim” Reid; her parents, Earl and Icie Pugh; her brother, John Thomas Pugh; and her sister, Bobbye Reid, all of Morris. She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Wayne) Giles of Kimberly and Linda (Ron) McIntosh of Morris; son, Richard Reid of Morris; grandchildren, David and Daniel Trimble, Rachel and Nathan McIntosh, and Elizabeth Reid; and brother, James E. “Jimmy” Pugh of Morris. Mrs. Reid is also survived by her special friend, Martha McCoy of Corner. Mrs. Reid will lie in state at Enon Baptist Church in Morris from 9:30-11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. with Dr. John Hambright officiating. Burial will follow at Morris Cemetery with Richard Reid, Wayne Giles, Ron McIntosh, David Trimble, Daniel Trimble, and Nathan McIntosh serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to New Beacon Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Enon Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are by Morgan’s at Gardendale Funeral Home, 631-8810.

Donald R. Ellis

Donald R. Ellis, age 70 of Gardendale passed away on July 4, 2007. He was a member of East Gardendale Baptist Church, retired from U.S. Steel after 33 years of service and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his devoted wife of 17 years, Jan Ellis, daughter Brenda (John) Belcher of Hoover, step-sons Cliff (Kay) Gurley, Mike (Judy) Gurley and Russell (Vicky) Gurley, granddaughter Brooke Belcher Veleber, grandson, John Bradley Belcher, eight step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, sister, Barbara (Carl) Street, also survived by nieces, Jan, Tracy and Kim and a host of friends. Services will be held July 7 at 2 p.m. at Morgan’s @ Gardendale with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday.
